Looking For A Qualified Leak Detection Specialist In Contra Costa County?

There is no better pool leak detection service than the one offered by John, the owner of Concord Pool Service.

John is a CPI (Certified Pool & Spa Inspector) and a CPO (Certified Pool Operator) provided by the Pool & Spa Alliance which is recognized nationally and internationally. This certification is designed to keep us up to date on the knowledge and skills needed to properly detect harmful water leaks and maintain your swimming pool or hot tub, ensuring swimmer safety and preventing costly equipment repairs.

While California state and Contra Costa County laws do not specifically require leak detection service businesses to be certified by an established association, we feel this training is an essential part of our business.

I and employees regularly attend the Western Pool & Spa show to keep current on non-evasive innovative leak repair techniques. We prefer a  non-evasive approach, meaning we're not drilling into your concrete or, in the case of pipe leaks, were not ripping into your drywall.

  • We will do a thorough inspection of the entire swimming pool system.
  • We will Identify the location of any detected leaks on-site using specialized equipment.

Procedures we follow for successful leak detections.

  • Before arriving at the job site to determine if there s a pool leak, we gather as much information as possible. When a customer calls, we take the time to understand their situation based on the conversation. This is also an excellent opportunity to ask questions like, "How full is the pool?" "Is the pool water clear?" "Why do you think your pool is losing water?" "Has your pool or pool equipment been repaired recently?" These questions give us a better idea of the problem and how to best solve it.
  • If available, we investigate the detailed leak-related information the homeowner provides, even if they seem to be sure of what they're saying. For example, the husband may be convinced the pool dropped 76 mm (3 in.) overnight, but the wife's opinion may differ. Keeping the client's information in mind and exploring other possibilities is essential.
  • From our experience, almost all leaks are found within a three-foot radius of the pool shell. Familiar places for leaks in this area include skimmer seams and pool lights, but they can also be found in other places, such as conduits, main drains, structural cracks, beam breaks, and return lines.
  • A small percentage of pool leak detection calls may not be actual leaks. In many cases, the customer may have left the filter in backwash mode, or your pool maintenance technician may have left the water running, where the pool drained to the proper level. If you are a pool owner and think you may have a leak, please check these two things before calling us so we can save you the time and money of a service call!
  • It's essential to ensure the pool water is clear and at the right level to perform a visual inspection. Further, a complete leak detection test cannot be performed on a half-filled pool. The plaster must be entirely hydrated for 24 hours when working with plaster pools. Otherwise, our hydrophone will pick up loud crackling noises.
  • Always check the pool filter valve, sometimes referred to as a backwash valve, before walking around the pool looking for water. Small puddles of water can confirm a leak and clarify where the leak might be coming from.

Where are the most common places where pool leaks happen?

Plumbing System: Many different factors can lead to a swimming pool leak, such as the material of the pipes, the quality of the original installation, the age of the pipes, and the plumbing configuration or soil conditions. In many cases, the leak is coming from the swimming pool plumbing system.

Skimmers: Cracks can form in skimmers for several reasons. The most common include the material the skimmer is made of, the age of the skimmer, and external forces such as settling.

Pool lights: Most leaks in or around pool lights are due to two culprits: the conduit line that the light cord is run through or the plaster and gunite surrounding the light. If you notice water seeping around your pool light, it's vital to take action immediately to prevent further damage.

Pool surface cracks: Many cracks in a swimming pool's concrete surface are cosmetic, but sometimes they can point to a more severe problem. Cracks can form from pool settling, erosion, and exposure to the elements. So, if you notice any gaps in your pool, it's best to have a professional take a look.

Return Lines: Common leaks in return lines are often related to gasket, pipe, or fitting. Returns play an essential role in your pool’s circulation.

Why Is My Pool Losing Water?

Whether your swimming pool is leaking or not can be tricky to determine. The environmental factors in Concord play a role in the water level; Lower than usual water levels do not mean it leaks. Windy areas, low humidity, and direct exposure to the sun all impact your evaporation rate.

We can determine if your swimming pool leaks and give you a better idea of whether or not there's a problem or if other factors cause the fluctuation in the water levels.

Our leak detection services are fast and reliable, and our technicians can quickly locate and fix the source of your leak.
